Let me try to make up for all of this...

This has been one amazing (and by 'amazing,' I mean not) couple of weeks. My sleep schedule has been thrown off because I was sick with pneumonia for well over a week. Probably closer to two weeks. When it began to really hit, I started finding myself unable to even hold the camera up for an extended period of time... but that's okay. Because eventually photography was the last thing on my mind.

I didn't touch my camera once, save for a few things around the house, which I will spare you, until I was fully recovered. But one day, on my way home from work, I had to take one of my members of a carpool to have a drug test. So I did a little bit of experimentation, which only yielded a few results.

I've been promising myself to go to downtown to capture some of the lights there so that I can make my own Christmas cards this year. So a bunch of us went down there to do exactly that. I hung around the Neiman Marcus building (I didn't know there was a historical plaque on the building. Means I should go out there during the day and take a better photo of it. In fact, there's one about 10-15 minutes from work. I should make a lunch break excursion when I've got my strength back completely!) and took photos of the lights. However, I found myself distracted by the mannequins in the windows.

My roommate was telling me that I should get all the practice that I can. Haha. Me? The fashion photographer? I doubt I'd make it far in that field.

Nevertheless, we walked all the way from Neiman Marcus to Pegasus Plaza. And from Pegasus, we walked towards the Fountain Place- passing a number of the buildings on the way. I saw a really nifty Christmas Carol set of windows.

Anyhow, we arrived at Fountain Place, and walked around so I could get mental ideas for photography in the summer when all the fountains are actually operational. The building is awesome to see from the skyline, but the park around it is equally as gorgeous. Go by there when you get a chance. Especially during the summer. I'm sure it's breath taking with all the fountains running and not drained.

From there, we walked back to Akard Station to catch the second to last train back to Arapaho Station. My roommate and I ran into this guy (who must have been plastered, I swear) that was driving around on the train tracks. We had to yell at him to move on, as a train was entering the station, and eventually he got a clue and he drove on- almost into an oncoming train on the other side of the tracks.

I don't get people sometimes.

We intended to hit the Children's Adolphus Parade that morning. But... we uh... slept in like... three hours or so. So I decided to make up for it by doing more in downtown at night.

It's been awhile since I've posted, so I'm going to give a few photos, with a few galleries linked in the post.

I've been busy with work, company coming over, and finally getting a sinus infection. I'm going to be somewhat out of it, but I've not slowed down on my goal of 'at least one photo a day' amongst other things.

However, this is going to be a short post tonight. I'm sick, tired, and need to take my meds, so... I'll let the pictures do the talking. :D

Nothing fancy on today's photos.

Just a few things. A couple of shots of my school at night, as well.

I'm trying to make it a point to use my camera as often as possible to get better with my photography.

What? Changes?

I made it back in town safely on Sunday night. I had a blast on my trip and took a lot of photos.

But first thing's first. I've moved my gallery from Flickr to Picasa. This way, I'll stay entirely on Google's network. I've already made the necessary edits to my previous blog entries.

Second off- I'll never be content with my galleries. Just because it's posted, doesn't mean that that's all the photos I took. I took over 250 photos on my way home. I may update and add more eventually. I'll be sure to post here when I do, however.

Stories about my trip back? Let's see. I set out from Luling, Texas about 2 hours later than I intended, but that's okay. I travelled on, and made a random stop in Lockhart. I intended to continue on through until I saw the most awesome building off to the side.

And thus, I found the first location of my trip.

After being content with my photos, and my giddiness over this town making me think of Hill Valley, I hopped back into my car and continued on.

After getting donuts in Round Rock, I ended up in Georgetown to see several locations. I intended to see a Catholic church that was in the town, but was unsuccessful in trying to locate it.

Nevertheless, I spent time on the Southwestern campus, at FUMC Georgetown, and St. John's Methodist Church. Then I went on my way again.

I was dead set on seeing Theon, I'm sure you could imagine my surprise when I realized I passed it. I almost passed it again after I turned around, also.

And I couldn't find the remnants of Corn Hill, but I did locate the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Cemetery in New Corn Hill. That was something I couldn't miss. You could see the church when you were leaving Walburg. Speaking of Walburg, I forgot to mention the St. Peter Lutheran Church there.

My timing was so poor, though. I got to talk to some of the congregation there, and they were having the interior repainted, so it was closed off to everyone. They assured me that the church was /gorgeous/ on the inside, and told me that I'd have to come again the next time I'm in the area.

And I certainly will.

My trip towards Dallas continued on 1105, to which I nearly got lost and out of gas. But my friend Katie was a lot of help in playing navigator from almost 200 miles away. Cell phones are lovely.

Once I made it back to I-35, I came to realize that I didn't have the time to make it to my next destinations. Sadly, I chose to bypass them and Temple and drive straight back into Dallas.

...to which my friend John and I played with the slow exposure settings on our cameras, taking pictures with 8-30 second shutter times.

I was so exhausted, and I think I'm still recovering. But it was so worth it. :D

Day of Celebration

Today, as of 3pm, I became the proud owner of a Sony a100 digital camera. And I've already taken 500 photos on it. I spent several hours at a pair of historical landmarks near where I'm staying.

I will be driving back to Dallas from the Austin area tomorrow. I've planned to make a few stops on the way up, though. I want to take more photos. :D
